What Independent Means shows you
Super projection
See your super balance at retirement across three market scenarios (base, conservative, and aggressive) with contributions tax modelled at 15%.
Net worth trajectory
Year-by-year net worth from today to life expectancy, combining super, property, savings, and investments in one view.
Will your money last?
Nobody knows what markets will do next, so a single projection is only ever one guess. We test your retirement against 1,000 possible futures, some with good markets and some with a crash at the worst moment, then count how many times your money holds out. A score of 85% means it lasted in 850 of those 1,000.
Ready for the 2027 property tax changes
From 1 July 2027 negative gearing is limited to new builds, and the 50% capital gains discount is replaced by indexing your cost base to inflation. Established properties you already held on 12 May 2026 are not affected. We ask the three things those rules turn on, the contract date, whether it was a new build, and what you paid, so we can tell you now which of your properties would be affected and which would not. The rules are not in force yet, so nothing changes your numbers until you choose to see it.
Property & debt
Model multiple investment properties, negative gearing, P&I vs IO loans, and debt-free projections alongside your retirement picture.
Budget once, use it everywhere
Enter your spending by category one time and every projection uses it. Bills that land once or twice a year sit in a 12-month calendar, so you can see which months are tight before they arrive. An expense can also be given the year it stops, so school fees that finish in 2031 stop counting from 2031 without you touching anything again.
Tax position
Household tax estimated with LITO, Medicare Levy, MLS, HECS, Division 293, franking credits, and salary sacrifice, updated for FY2026-27.
Financial summary
A categorised summary of your key modelling insights across retirement, super, tax, property, and cashflow, built from your numbers, not generic advice.
How the retirement modelling works
Seven stages. About 15 minutes. A complete picture of your financial life.
Each stage feeds a rules-based engine that models Australian superannuation, income tax, property and debt together, rather than treating them as separate calculators. The output is a year-by-year net worth trajectory, a FIRE number, and a retirement probability, all calculated from the figures you enter and current ATO and Services Australia rules.
1
Household profile
Age, partner details, employment, retirement age, life expectancy.
2
Income & budget
Gross income, salary sacrifice, irregular income, and a category budget with a 12-month cashflow calendar. Expenses that stop one day, like school fees, can be given their last year here.
3
Assets & savings
Cash, ETFs, managed funds, crypto, and other investments.
4
Property & debt
PPOR, investment properties, mortgages, HECS, and consumer debt.
5
Superannuation
Super balances, SG rate, contributions, and target retirement spending.
6
Analysis
Full retirement modelling, net worth chart, the odds your money lasts, and scenario comparison.

Deterministic, not AI-estimated
Every projection is calculated by a rules-based engine using your actual inputs, not estimated by an AI. The maths is yours to interrogate.
Australian tax law, FY2026-27
Concessional caps, LITO, Medicare Levy Surcharge, Division 293, HECS, Age Pension means testing, and ABP drawdown rates, all current.
